As Boukje has been in multiple places, her practice is one of constant movement. This sense of travel is deeply reflected in her work, which captures snapshots of the various landscapes and environments she has encountered. With family all over, she has come to realize that home is not a fixed point, but a place of connection.
Boukje has exhibited internationally since 2024, showcasing her work at Scandinavia House in New York City, Forssa Textile Week in Finland, and Gothenburg Craft Days in Sweden. Her professional momentum was further highlighted in 2024 when she was named a finalist for the Dorothy Waxman International Textile Design Prize in New York for her collection, Knitted Narratives. That same year, she held her first solo exhibition at Museum de Speeltoren in Monnickendam, marking a significant milestone in her career as she continues to bridge the gap between art and textile design.
